Facts about Chris Norman and biography
The Englishman Christopher Norman was born into an artistic family in 1950, so his future was already determined from above. Little Chris was on stage for the first time in three years, so until a more or less conscious age he was already used to it and did not separate himself from it. And after Chris got a guitar from his father in seven years, his dream of becoming a rock musician became even stronger. Parents, who understood his son’s hobby, did not interfere with him, but, on the contrary, tried in every way possible to facilitate his quick implementation.
In Chris Norman’s early childhood tiger biography, there were constant crossings and different cities – all because of the active tour life that his parents led. Together with them, young Chris visited every corner of his native country. Until the family returned to Bradford, his mother’s village, Chris had already changed nine different schools. In Bradford, he went to the men’s gymnasium, where he met Alan Silson and Terry Attley – first just friends, and then colleagues in the Smokey group. Then Christopher was twelve years old.
In those years – mid-sixties – the youth were fond of songs “The Beatles”, “Rolling Stones”, Bob Dylan. Neither Chris Norman nor his new friends were exceptions. They diligently studied the songs of their idols and chose tunes on guitars. In the beginning they were three of us, but a little later there was a fourth – drummer Ron Kelly. With the appearance in the biography of Chris Norman and his friends Kelly it was the idea to create his own group.
Christopher was never very special in teaching, so he left school at the age of fifteen. Strangely enough, parents responded with sufficient understanding to such actions by the son, but the father nevertheless wished that Chris, before becoming a musician, tried himself in another profession. He tried – worked as a charger, a sales agent, an employee, an employee in the department store, but all these specialties did not satisfy him, he still devoted all his free time to music, and his father eventually gave up. By that time, Chris’ friends had already left school. So in Chris Norman’s biography (photo) his first band – Yen appeared. Under this name, young people started playing in the clubs of the city. However, it was soon replaced and then again and again – they were sorted out until they stopped at the Elizabethans. However, in 1968 the name of the collective changed again: Kidness (“Kindness”).
Smokey group: flowering
Five years later, the musicians who have been interrupted by bars and clubs all along, were extremely fortunate: fate brought them together with two producers and composers, very famous in the world of show business – Nikki Chinn and Michael Chapman. They loved the sound of young artists and they offered musicians to work together. The proposal was accepted without hesitation – in fact, this collective was not enough. Immediately the changes started, mainly with the name again. Kidness was renamed Smokie – the band members themselves later explained the similar name to Chris’s hoarse voice (smokie translated from English as “smoke”). That is how the second career twist began in the biography of singer Chris Norman.
In the same year Ron Kelly left the team, Pete Spencer came to his place – and the classic composition of Smokie was formed. Producers also worked on the boys’ image – on stage they almost always came out in white shirts and elegant suits. The band’s first single, which earned him real fame, was released in the summer of 1975 – the song “really shot” and appeared in all sorts of British and even international charts. In the same year, Smokey released their debut album Changing all the time.
The popularity of the group has gained an unprecedented reach. They recorded songs one after the other, toured through their country of birth and abroad. Particularly fond of the collective in Germany – there “Smoky” almost did not disappear from the screens and from radio air. In just seven years of flowering (until 1982), Smokey recorded nine albums and released twenty-four singles, all of which became hits without exception.
After seven years of continuous work, musicians were somewhat tired and decided to take a break. Everyone has their own affairs, their projects. Nevertheless, the artists came together again two years later – first for a benefit concert only, but then went on tour and recorded a new single. However, that is all: solo music has already appeared in Chris Norman’s biography. When he returned from the tour, he finally left the group.
Stumblin'In: duet with Suzy Quatro
In 1978, at the height of “Smokey” popularity, Chris Norman made an unexpected move for rock musician: he recorded a lyrical duet with the famous singer Susie Quatro (by the way, Chinn and Chapman also began to disarm it).
This song, called Stumblin’In, unexpectedly for both artists became a real hit, hit the charts, not only in their native Britain, but also in the US, and further enhanced the popularity of each musician. To this day, she remains loved by many people.
In the mid-1980s, Chris Norman became acquainted with Dieter Bohlen (“Modern Talking”) and under his leadership he recorded the song Midnight Lady, which was later filmed and a video clip. The song ‘shoots’ and throws Chris to the top of the ratings. It was after the success of the song in the fall of 1986 that Norman left his own band.
Since 1986 the biography of Chris Norman has dozens of songs and albums. He got a second wind, a new popularity, worked tirelessly in the studio and released a hit after hit. Traveling around, television and radio broadcasts, the first personal awards – all of this began to merge with Chris Norman.
After a short break Christopher continued His career – and with no less success than in the 1980s. His star on the Vienna Walk of Fame, the prize for the best male voice, the first double DVD disc is only a small part of what the musician found in the early 21st century.
at this time, Despite the fact that Chris Norman is not that small and many at his age “retire”, the musician will still not stop. He releases new albums with enviable regularity (a new album by the artist was released recently – this September, now Norman tour to support the album).
In addition to music, Christopher Norman is actively involved in charity. He is also the ambassador of the children’s hospital in Germany.
Personal life in the biography of Chris Norman
It is generally accepted that artists are non-permanent, their marriage is short-lived and the love between them in general cannot exist. The biography of Chris Norman and his family (pictured) is the best refutation of this opinion.
With his wife met Linda Chris at an age he was seventeen years old and three years later he married her. It was Linda, still a Chris muse, who contributed in part to Smokey’s success – if not for her support and inspiration, Norman is unlikely to have done it this way. His wife still occupies an enormous place in the biography of Chris Norman – he does not hesitate to talk about this in all his numerous interviews.
In the first years of his life together, Linda worked as a stylist at Smoky, went on tour with them and accompanied her husband everywhere. But you soon get tired from such a life – and she’s tired, so she returned to her hometown. Contrary to what is often thought, the relationship between Chris and Linda is not completely spoiled here. Five children were born in their marriage – four sons and a daughter, the couple of whom already have four grandchildren. So, in Chris Norman’s biography, his family is of the utmost importance. When he is on the road, he always finds an opportunity to contact his wife and communicate with her.
